Today is our 8-year wedding anniversary.
We called in to work, I really am snotty and sick, so it made it more legitimate.

Slept in just a little. When Brad started waking me up to go get breakfast, I reached over and gave him his card. He reached over and gave me my card, and then gave me Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca DVD. One of my favorite movies. Has lots of cool extras. I was sitting up in bed facing him with my back to the dresser. In the mirror on my closet door I saw something on my dresser and leaned back to see what it was. He bought me some flowers and put them out in a vase for me on the dresser.

Downstairs, before we headed out he opened his box from me. A 3-channel remote control plane!

Got some breakfast at McDonalds. It was cute, a group of seniors were there playing bingo. The McDonalds supplied them with the bingo cards, ball roller and bingo balls. The one doing the calling was a school crossing guard done with her morning shift. Read the paper and did the crossword together.

We drove to a park close to home where they have a special area for remote controlled planes and checked it out. Then went to the Humane Society to see the dogs. Brad spent all his time with Sake, a nervous German Shepherd. The dog was pressed up against the back wall looking freaked. So Brad sat with her and talked quietly with her. I think he really made some progress with her before we left.

I spent most of my time with Lucy, a Lab/Pitt mix. Her nails were way overgrown. She let me clip them. She didn't like it though, so we took breaks, it seemed to make her nervous. But she was a good sport about the whole thing and really good to me. Another came out and joined us, brought out a puppy named Maxy. Lucy and Maxy played together really nice.

After we left we drove through downtown Naperville and I saw some baby ducks trying to hop up over a curb. I turned the corner and parked to go see the ducks. The mama duck just sat in the middle of the sidewalk waiting for her 12 babies to all make it up to her. People were standing around watching. The ducklings really struggled but then all finally made it up. Then the family went to walk across one more street to get to the river. People herded them in the right direction. Then they got to the next curb, the ducklings were getting tired and struggling more. So Brad headed over and lifted them all up to the curb so they could move on.

They then waddled over to the river with the crowd following. The part they headed for had a bit of a drop off into the river. The mama jumped in, the babies just huddled together and cried. Again...Superman to the rescue! Brad jumped down on some rocks on the side of the river and brought all the ducklings down.

We have steak, shrimp, and Maytag blue cheese for dinner as we watch "Big Fish".
