I am addicted to 7-eleven's diet pepsi slurpees. I want it for breakfast and dinner everyday. 0 calories. I love the icy consistency of slurpees, and the sweet taste. Now I can enjoy without guilt. However...I really have been going nuts with them lately...I can't stop....

No dogs this weekend.
I had to work most of Sunday. Big weekend work stuff going on.
So I wanted to do something different with Brad on Saturday, something fun to do together.
We went to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois. A small road trip to the largest Railway Museum in the US.
I got the idea earlier last week on the train into work. A 3 year-old boy and his dad sat with me. The boy talked the whole way and was just so adorable, he had a Thomas the train backpack and hugged it and told me it was his friend. He really loves trains, all of them, not just Thomas, and told me about him and his dad going to the museum some time ago.
It was free admission on Saturday when we went, they only charge when trains are running to cover costs for rides. They have steam, electric and diesel engines and trollies that run. They have a used bookstore with old train maps and logs too. And tons and tons of trains!! Real old ones too.

Thomas the train is coming in August, I think we might go back with our nephew Shawn and Brad's sister and husband. Sounds fun.

Activities during the Day Out With Thomas event:

20-minute ride with Thomas the Tank Engine
Meet Sir Topham Hatt

Puppet Shows
Magic Shows

Office Memo

Subj: Distribution of Emergency Response Kits

I am pleased to announce that we have decided to purchase and distribute Emergency Response Packs to all Bank of America staff at the Sears Tower. These packs have been distributed to NY staff since 9/11 and were reported by NY staff to be very helpful during the blackout last August.

The kits include an emergency supply of water, AM/FM pocket radio with AA batteries, N95 ventilator mask, small flashlight with batteries, space blanket, whistle, two 12-hour glow sticks and first aid kit. Supplies are packaged in a nylon red 3-pocket fanny pack that is easy to clip on and wear, keeping your hands free in an emergency.

The Mailroom will receive the packs shortly and will distribute them by floor, beginning with the 25th floor and moving up to the 28th floor. The distribution will take several weeks given the number of staff involved, so please be patient.

These packs should be kept at your desk for use in an emergency. Please do not take them home. Given the considerable expense of purchasing these for all STC staff, we will not be able to provide duplicates.

It is certainly our hope that there will not be an occasion to use these packs, but please keep the contents intact and at hand should an emergency occur. We will send out a reminder in a year or so to replace the batteries to ensure that they remain viable.

Mid 80's this weekend
Gorgeous.
I think I was wearing my wool winter coat early last week....

Mikey, Gretchen, Niko, Cliffy, Rudy and Daisy all got adopted this week.
I walked Mia first, there were other walkers there so we took our time and hung out outside. She is so good. Sitting real sweet and pretty-like in her kennel....I couldn't resist. She's a whippet mix. Not interested in other dogs, just likes one-on-one with people. Super soft short fur, smelled good too. She was jumping all over me when we got outside, just so happy. I had Mia prints all over the front of my shirt. She makes lots of funny faces.

While I was out with Mia, Brad came up from walking Reggie.
Another great dog. Very playful and Mia wanted nothing to do with it or him. She either hid behind me or wanted to be in my lap mostly. Just sniffed him a little and nipped when he was giving her kisses. Reggie stayed optimistic. Just a happy big playful dog. Him and Brad had a good time. Soon as I saw Reggie I brought Brad over to him, I thought right away he looked like a dog Brad would love.

I walked Lucky next, interesting looking dog. Little tufts of long wiry hair in spots.
Nervous little dog. I would pet him a little and then out of nowhere he would nip and look pissed, and then a second later, be wagging his tail jumping on me as if to say "I'm sorry...I can't help it!" He did it a few times. He'd act like he wanted to be pet, and then he would go into his little attack mode and then apologize all over again.

Winnie was my last walk. Little piggy, but not slow. Very active. Looked like she had given birth recently, not sure what happened to her puppies. She had 2 scars on either side of her front. I asked one of the staff about it. They said she had some kind of pipe that went right through her. A farmer found her, had the local farm doctor pull it out, and gave her penicillin for it and then brought her in.

I was trying to call Jae last night around 11pm (midnight her time), she called me the night earlier and I had trouble finding the phone on my nightstand and hung up on her.
I called the wrong number last night.
I called my mother-in-law, Bev.
Woke her up.
Took me a few seconds to realize who it was and what I had just done.
I reassured her no one was dead or in the hospital and wished her a happy easter.

Rocco, Bailey, Calvin, Petey and Jaime all got adopted this week! And Riley is finally on hold for adoption!
Rocco's new family sent an email that was posted on the board about how happy they are with him and love him so much. Even posted a link to a bunch of pictures they've already taken of him. He looks really happy, lots of toys, nice looking couple too.

I walked Gretchen first, a 12 week old puppy. Liked to run around with her short stubby legs. So tiny. She would run around a bit, and then run at me and jump in my lap giving me kisses and then run around again.

I walked Niko next, he was pacing around like he really needed to go. One of the other volunteers told me he didn't pass his temperament test, I'm not sure what part of it, he seems like I good dog. But she said they were keeping him to hopefully pass on to the police to be trained as a drug sniffing dog. It was tough getting him in his kennel, so I went in first. I couldn't get out though. We both kept fighting for the closest spot to the gate, pushing each other out of the way. He'd push up behind me, and if I stood my ground, he'd nip at my calves and ankles. Just a warning though, not hard. Enough to make me move. Smart dog. After 5 minutes of this I was able to get someones attention walking by to help me.

Cliffy is a funny little dog. Kind of ewok looking, with a major underbite. Gives him character. Very sweet little guy.

I liked Mikey a lot. Nice, easy to hug and cuddle with. Beautiful dog, very easy going.

Rudy had notes written about him that he was a jumper and nipper. He did jump on me, and one person in the parking lot came up to us holding out her hand, and he did nip. Again, not hard, not aggressively, thats just how he plays until he is trained otherwise.

I spent time outside with Daisy before I left.
I kept singing "Daisy Daisy,
Give me your answer do
I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage,
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two"

Another sweet lap dog.

Happy birthday Sunny!

Nice relaxing day. Got a pedicure together with Emily. Very pampering. Served us some fruity drinks, had a heated neck wrap, massage & heat chair, foot massage and scrub. Then we went shopping at Ulta and a new place that opened nearby in downtown Naperville (I forget the name....) and of course I stopped by her place early, before our appt, so I could play with her dogs Nacho and Ginger.

Beanie, Tia and stinky Jack got adopted this week! Another beautiful sunny day for walking dogs. I walked Rocco first. A boxer with a skin condition. He has hardly no fur, and his skin is dark and crusty. Poor thing. It doesn't seem to bother him too much. He is very playful and lovey. He loves to go see and play with other dogs, batting his paws out at them, little stumpy tail wiggling. But he can't play too much, cause a dog could scratch up his skin, and its really delicate and tears easy. Just being outside his paws got scratched a little and some blood was on the sidewalk. We walked down the block to a preschool. They have a little grassy hill in back. We went there and we both laid in the grass together. I kissed his sweet crusty face, and he'd kiss me back. Sun felt good as we laid there.

Calvin was already walked earlier, so after all the other dogs got their walks, I took him out. Quiet big guy. Gentle giant. Shepard mix. We were running around outside and he was getting a good lead on me and about knocked me over.

Took out Petey. We had some fun running around too. He likes to carry his own leash in his mouth.

Last I walked was Jamie (collie mix) and Bailey (cockapoo)

Niko, a big Shepard pup had just gotten a bath and needed a good brushing. Plus we really liked him. So we took him outside on the run and each brushing a side of him. He was shedding his winter coat, fur flying everywhere, I could just grab handful of it and pull it out. He looked a lot better after the brushing. He was so sweet, he seemed to like it, even sat down in Brad's lap as we brushed him. Then we ran around and played some ball with him.
